spring things.
Before I go any further I think I should make it perfectly clear that spring has yet to arrive in Boston. We’ve had a few days that broke sixty degrees but I have yet to put away all of my cashmere. To encourage the sun to come out and play (and stay), I’ve rounded up a few things to sip, shop, eat & get inspired by...
Sip: Old Fashioned
Known as one of the healthiest drinks you can order at the bar, this cocktail is a must-try. “This 200-year-old bourbon drink is now a classic, and for good reason — there aren’t a lot of ingredients getting in the way.” (POPSUGAR)
Shop: Denim
Whether you’re going to be out in the garden or running errands on a warm weekend, details make the outfit with denim. Cuffed sleeves, rolled legs, pointed collars and soft washes will help you master this casual look.
Eat: Rainbow Chard
It is one of the best kept secrets at your local grocer. Including vitamins C, K, iron and potassium, this leafy friend can also serve up the daily dose of color you need on a day full of April showers. (And don’t forget to check out these recipe ideas.)
Listen: Country
The likes of Dan & Shay, Brad Paisley & Brett Eldredge had singles that just missed the cut last week on the countdown but songs like “Seein' Red” definitely have that windows-down-stranger-caught-me-singing-in-rush-hour-traffic-and-gave-me-a-thumbs-up-and-I’m-not-even-that-mad thing going on.
Make: Washi Tape Keyboard
It happens to the best of us: the weather is perfect and you’re stuck inside working. Well, one way to beat the first-decent-sunny-afternoon-blues is to have a keyboard like this one.
Visit: Butterfly Garden, Museum of Science
There has never been a better time to visit the Museum of Science. Seriously. Aside from the fact that there is a 65-million-year-old Triceratops waiting for you, there is an entire room of butterflies to pick you up from whatever cloud is raining on your parade. Not that I’m recommending you play hooky to go here or anything…
Garden hours: 10am-4:30pm, Admission: Included in exhibit fare
Read: The Opposite of Love by Julie Buxbaum
I’m the queen of wondering whether or not I’m doing this whole grown-up thing right. When life doesn’t go according to plan, it’s so easy to think of yourself as a failure, especially when it seems like everyone else has their lives together. But the truth is, you’re no less put together than the girl in the cubicle next to you, your story just reads a little differently and this book nails it.
